This qualification reflects the role of individuals in the community, home or residential care setting who work under supervision and delegation as a part of a multi-disciplinary team, following an individualised plan to provide person-centred support to people who may require support due to ageing, disability or some other reason.
These individuals take responsibility for their own outputs within the scope of their job role and delegation. Workers have a range of factual, technical and procedural knowledge, as well as some theoretical knowledge of the concepts and practices required to provide person-centred support.

INTAKE DATES

To ensure an appropriate learning opportunity, candidates need to demonstrate a capacity to undertake study at Certificate III level, this can be demonstrated via the following:

  • Successful completion of Year 10 or the equivalent level of study or mature aged entry
  • Participate in a Pre-training Review (PTR)
  • Undertake a Language, Literacy & Numeracy (LLN) assessment to determine suitability for admission and identify support needs.
  • A reasonable level of fitness and flexibility to carry out manual handling
  • Moderate level of computer literacy required
  • Candidates must be aged 18 or older

  • Evidence of full COVID-19 immunisation with the TGA approved vaccine

Additional requirements upon course commencement / prior to industry work placement:

  • A National Police Check (NPC)
  • A NDIS Worker Check (NDISWC)
  • Any additional evidence your work placement provider requires
  • Vaccinations which can include COVID, hepatitis A and B, and influenza
  • Aged care sector screening clearance
Note: If a student has a Disclosable Court Outcome registered against their name, we are unable to assist with placement as an industry will not accept students without a clear record. This requirement is not negotiable. Please note, in Victoria, this includes any offence that may have occurred up to 10 years ago and will show offences that state they are “without conviction”.

  • Minimum English level of IELTS 6.0* or equivalent. Candidates originating from student visa assessment levels 1 and 2 without the required IELTS score can undertake Language, Literacy and Numeracy Indicator Test. For information on student visa assessment levels, refer to Department of Home Affairs www.homeaffairs.gov.au
  • Applicants must be aged 18 or above 

  • Evidence of full COVID-19 immunisation with the TGA approved vaccine
